KIDS & FAMILY AREA ROLES

These roles support the Kids & Family Area at the Ride Out of the Darkness® event, creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging space for children and families. Volunteers in this area help ensure activities run smoothly while maintaining clear safety awareness and positive interactions. All Kids & Family Area roles are event-focused with light pre-event coordination as needed. Time commitment varies by role.

  • ROLE TYPE
    Kids & Family Area Support Role — Event-Focused Assignment

    ROLE PURPOSE
    Oversees the Kids & Family Area to ensure activities are organized, age-appropriate, and safely managed throughout the event.

    SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
    • Coordinates kids’ activities and flow
    • Oversees Kids Area volunteers
    • Ensures safety guidelines are followed
    • Serves as point of contact for questions or concerns
    • Communicates with Operations and Security teams as needed

    TIME COMMITMENT
    • Light pre-event coordination
    • Active presence during event hours

    SUPPORT & STRUCTURE
    • Works closely with Operations Director
    • Supported by activity volunteers and safety monitors
    • Uses provided activity plans and guidelines

    IDEAL FOR SOMEONE WHO
    • Enjoys working with children and families
    • Is calm, organized, and attentive
    • Can supervise volunteers and activities

    ROLE PURPOSE
    Assists with kids’ activities by helping set up, guide participation, and create a fun, welcoming environment.

    SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
    • Assist with activity setup and cleanup
    • Help guide children through activities
    • Support the Kids Area Coordinator
    • Encourage positive, inclusive participation

    TIME COMMITMENT
    • Event day only
    • Shift-based

    SUPPORT & STRUCTURE
    • Works under Kids & Family Area Coordinator
    • All materials and instructions provided

    • Alert Coordinator to concerns
    • Support a calm and orderly environment

    TIME COMMITMENT
    • Event day only
    • Shift-based

    • Works under Kids & Family Area Coordinator
    • Clear escalation path provided
