CLEAN-UP & TEARDOWN SUPPORT ROLES
Clean-Up & Teardown Support roles ensure the Ride Out of the Darkness® event ends responsibly, respectfully, and professionally. These roles protect relationships with venues, partners, and communities by leaving every location clean, organized, and restored. Volunteers in this category help manage cleanup, equipment returns, waste, and lost-and-found items. Most roles are event-day focused, with light coordination before or immediately after the event.

ROLE TYPE
Clean-Up & Teardown Leadership Role — 10–12 Month AssignmentROLE PURPOSE
Plans and leads all clean-up operations at the starting location, ensuring the site is fully restored, volunteers are prepared in advance, and the venue relationship is protected.SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
• Plans clean-up needs for the starting location months in advance
• Recruits and schedules clean-up volunteers
• Ensures volunteers understand responsibilities and timelines
• Coordinates supplies needed for clean-up (bags, gloves, bins, etc.)
• Works with Operations and Facilities teams to understand venue expectations
• Leads clean-up execution on event day
• Confirms the site is left clean, organized, and restoredTIME COMMITMENT
• 10–12 month commitment
• Average 1–3 hours per month during planning
• Event-day presence required
• Light post-event follow-up as neededSUPPORT & STRUCTURE
• Reports to Clean-Up Director
